Successfull weekend for the Amerks

The Rochester Amerks have had the best weekend in awhile. They had a great game overall Friday night vs the Hamilton Bulldogs and had an even better night against the best team in the AHL, Syracuse Crunch.

Friday night:

Against the worse team in the league the Amerks were not going to take it easy. They capitalized on the power plays and even better they pressed hard on D. They didn’t slow down once. When the Bulldogs got chippy, probably out of frustration because they have gotten pushed around by the amerks the Amerks were right there to push backhand lead to a whole line pushing match with Porter and Brennan in the middle… But in the end Biega went for fighting. They ended that skirmish with 4 ppl in the box. The Amerks coasted to victory after that by winning 4-1

Saturday night:

The amerks faced the Amerks faced the top team in the league, Syracuse crunch. Both teams were going into the. Game down men so it was who was going to step up from each team… The game started off pretty equal which lead to a 0-0 first period. There was a dirty hit on the Amerks young star Zemgus Girgensons on the boards which led to a fight including Brennan and panick. Panick ended up getting a game misconduct. So the Fridays game should be an interesting game. The amerks got on the board first and didn’t look back. The Crunch like to play physical and it can back fire because if you miss a hit it could lead to a 2-1 advantage for the other team. A very disciplined Crunch fell apart and created power Play opportunities which the Amerks converted. They remain one of the most potent power play team. The Amerks came out on top 4-1 that game.

These two victories give the Amerks 4 PTS out of 4 which propelled them over the Abbotsford Heat. The AHL will see many talented players move up to the NHL but its up to the remaining players to step up. On the Amerks look for Phil Varone to step up.

Rochester vs Syracuse crunch

Amerks-3
Syracuse-5

Although Syracuse is currently the best team in the AHL the Amerks have found away to beat them twice in two meetings this year. Tonight though the Crunch got the best of them. The team looked defeated, they look like they knew they just lost their top two scoring threats to the Sabres. They did battle in this game but they could only impose their will when they were loosing. The D kept turning the puck over in their own zone where David Leggio had to make point blank saves. The score was 3-3 with about 8 minuets left in the game, and that’s when Syracuse flex their muscle. They scored two goals from that point on to close it out 5-3. The Amerks ended up getting goals from Luke Adam, Mark Mancari, and last but not least Brian Flynn. The Amerks are back at home on Friday night the 11th. Come on out to root the team on!
